Happy 30th birthday …

Yesterday the family had a birthday lunch for my sister-in-law Rebecca who turned 30 last Saturday.

She spent her birthday last week on the Gold Coast with her husband (my brother), my niece and nephew, her twin sister, brother-in-law, their 2 kids, her mum & dad, her other sister, brother-in-law, their 4 kids, her brother and sister-in-law and their daughter. I have to say that they did very well to organise such a large family trip with all 19 of them! Of course it was chaotic and manic but they had a great time and it was a fantastic bonding session for the little ones!

Anyways, I made a birthday card for Rebecca.

The pink background paper which was cut using Kaisercraft’s ‘nesting rectangles’ using the largest rectangle in the set.

The paper was then embossed using a Craft Concepts Universal Embossing Folder called ‘Solid Stars’. I used sand paper to highlight the stars.

A Paper Rose die (Mesh Large) and Kaisercraft’s ‘Texture Stained Glass’ decorative die was used to layer the die cuts on top of the embossed paper. FYI, I adhered the mesh die cut with staples.

The balloons were created with Kaisercraft’s ‘Balloons’ decorative die.

I had a ‘base’ die cut of balloons in black and then used the die on 5 different patterned papers to make the different coloured balloons. The ’30’ came from American Crafts’ Kitten In Black collection.

The final layer on the card is the greeting using a Hero Arts stamp called ‘Happy Birthday’.

Finally the card was outlined with a black marker.

Happy 30th birthday Rebecca! :) x

By the way, my mum and I made Rebecca’s birthday cake. Gluten free and dairy free! The inspiration came from Pinterest . The cake was based on the Oreo drip cake. It was delicious!

Happy Mother’s Day …

Last Sunday was Mother’s Day so this special day called for a card for my mum :)

I started with a Kaisercraft square card as the base.

The Couture Creations Intricutz die background ‘Fans of Fantasia’ is perfect for a square card – even better framed. The die cut was 9.5cm x 9.5cm so the frame I cut was 11.5cm x 11.5xm with a 1cm border.

Under the framed die cut I went for a pink coloured paper (to match the fussy cut flowers) – American Crafts – Pebbles – Happy Go Lucky Collection – Delight.

On top of the framed die cut I added another die cut – a frame from Kaisercraft’s Ornate Pack 1.

I fussy cut some flowers from the ‘Roses’ paper from Kaisercraft’s Secret Garden Collection and added them on the card with foam squares.

To complete the look, I created the greeting using Carolee’s Creations – Adornit Tiny Black alphabet stickers and stuck them with foam squares.

Tip: To have your letters/words appearing straight, adhere the letters to acetate (which is placed on top of a self healing mat that has lines) and then cut around the letter/words.
