Sweet …

My entry in the ‘Single or Double Page Spread, Children’ for the 2017 Adelaide Royal Show in the Open Art and Craft scrapbooking section was a layout featuring my niece Bella.

My inspiration for the colour scheme used in the layout was Bella’s beanie. With that in mind I found the perfect background paper to use – Bo Bunny’s Petal Lane paper:

I didn’t like the bike on the paper so I cut the paper diagonally. Inspired by the yellow in the Bo Bunny paper, I used another piece of paper to replace the bike – Webster’s Pages – Strawberry Fields – Balloon Bouquet:

I machine stitched the Bo Bunny paper and the Webster’s Pages paper onto another paper. Then I added a strip of black and white chevron paper to the bottom.

FYI, the chevron paper is from Ruby Rock-It’s Bella! Celebrate Paperz range.

Another Bo Bunny Petal Lane paper (Sunshine) was ideal for this layout. For fussy cutting and embellishing the photo of Bella.

I matted the photo on the frame –

I fussy cut the circle of hearts and the word ‘LOVE’ –

I added the 2 mandalas to the corner cluster –

I did cut the other 2 mandalas from the paper with the plan of adding them to the layout – I they weren’t ideal so I ditched that plan. Sometimes less is more. I added a metal embellishment to the centre of the yellow mandala.

You have to think outside the box when fussy cutting papers –

And last, but not least, the flowers from the paper were cut –

Once I added all the Bo Bunny fussy cuts something needed to be added to the upper right hand corner and it had to be black and white (to match the frame, the circle of hearts, the yellow mandala and the chevron strip). I went to my ‘go to’ patterned paper and fussy cut a few black and white flowers.

The flowers were from a KI Modern Elegance paper pack by Mary Beth Freet

The yellow pearls in the centre of the flowers are Kaisercraft pearls.

The final touches to the layout were the alphabet thickers –

American Crafts – Dear Lizzy – Foam letters – Fantastic – Salmon
